Happy New Year! Last year, we started this little blog called the Geek Forge. In it, we gave away all our crafting secrets as we learned them, and shared our geek-life adventures. Since then, we’ve gotten a Facebook page, a Twitter account, a Tumblr account, an Instagram account, a Flickr account, opened an Etsy store, and got a ton of new followers! This year, we want to keep growing and keep sharing our love of all things geek, so here are some things we’ve got coming up!
So Halloween is tomorrow, and if you’re scrambling for a last-minute costume idea, check out our friends over at PhoenixFX: Innovative Design! Their makeup and hair designs are fantastic.
Now enjoy this video of how to look like a burn victim:
Now that DragonCon is over and the influx of pictures have slowed, we’ve started looking at what costumes we’re going to try and make for DragonCon 2013 (only 336 days left!). Here’s our plan:
Plus Jen is helping a friend with a costume, and there may be more to come. Some of these are pretty ambitious, and will require test-runs and new skills, including armor-making and lights. Should be fun!
We had a commission for a Captain America shirt. Jen shares her secrets!
It’s five days until DragonCon! We finished our super-secret project, and we’re coming down the home stretch!
Here’s what we have left to do:
– fix/remake Deathstroke’s mask
– attach snaps to Deathstroke’s bandolier
– locate circuitry for Shadowrun costume
– practice drone flying
As you might have noticed, we have a fancy new website, just in time for DragonCon. Tell your friends!
After DragonCon, we’ll reveal the super-secret project. And stay tuned for more new features. Want to see us make something? Leave a comment below!
We’ve also updated the Jaq 2012 page, for your daily dose of Shadowrun geekery.
We’ve got some big things planned during and after DragonCon, so keep your eyes open! And don’t forget to check us out on social media – Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and G+. Each one has something slightly different!
Another update on Huntress. The gloves are finished, and some modifications have been made to the crossbow. This costume is almost complete! Stay tuned!
